Bono has donated his own money, and has worked tirelessly for his cause. He has also made great contributions to our world. What have you done? What are you doing about AIDS in Africa and the world? Aren't you the hypocrite for sitting around talking about him?

Bono has given millions of dollars to AIDS research and to help victims and he's gotten people to Donate (not all thru taxes) billions of more dollars to fight AIDS in Africa. So from all the money he's personally given and all the money he's raised thru private and public donations he's given the equivalent of 50,000 of his own mansions. Does that work for you or are you still worried about the $1 in taxes you might lose?

Bono has conducted more charity work than anyone alive. He has done a lot of things to make the world a better place.
He donates much of his time to charity work, with his money he could be a lot of other places doing a lot of fun things. He also uses his own resources to fund his causes.
He donates so much of his time and money to help the world yet he is criticized by people who want to get even more of his hard earned money. He earned it, he does not have to give a dime if he does not choose.

Perhaps because Bono moving into a terrace in the inner city, probably would have no positive impact whatsoever on the lives of the African poor and he has enough money of his own to donate without needing to sell his house.
Seriously, no one knows how much of his personal fortune Bono has spent in donations to Africa and in setting up initatives such as Red to benefit africa. All he is doing is using his wealth and fame positively to draw attention to a major global problem, and asking each individual who has the immeasurable good fortune to live in a wealthy country to examine their personal moral compass and give to others in the spirit of Christian compassion.
Oh and I doubt he could ENTIRELY empty his own bank account even if he wanted to- as he has 4 children of his own to feed, clothe and educate.

Why do so-called "Christian" leaders live in mansions while they ask for donations from their followers and moan about poverty? Why don't they buy a shack to live in and donate all their private holdings to starving children? Our tax dollars go to poverty relief in countries all over the world - you have no problem with that?
My family is not rich, but we sent what we could to help Katrina victims. Should we have sold our home and lowered our standard of living to help more so an extra penny wouldn't be taken out of your paycheck for disaster funding? Did you?

I think he does empty his piggy bank, a lot and often, for various causes that he believes in. If you are so concerned about the people dying of aids, why not get out there and volunteer or help them somehow, instead of posting bitter questions on Yahoo answers?

You need a base if your going to save the world.
You know what the bible says. You gotta give proportionately.
(the poor woman and the rich man story)
Chances are he'll leave it to charity. But i don't trust charities (international ones anyway, too many overheads) better to spend it yourself.
And if he uses his money to make even more money, when he dies, all the poor people with aid will have more money to use -sort of.
Does the same apply to Bill Gates & the rest other the super rich philanthropists’

I think the better question is why did U2 move their business from Ireland to Holland to avoid taxes while Bono asks entire nations to cancel Third World debt?
The hypocricy is thick.

Um, are you a socialist who thinks that all rich people should give their money away? Or do you just expect that one man will solve the AIDS in Africa problem? That's funny...BTW, do you know how much mansions in Ireland cost?

Dude, he gives up plenty of money and time every year. He even has charities that he funds. Are you saying that because you made it rich, you can't live that way because their are poor people? Everybody is entitled to enjoying their wealth no matter what the world's conditions are. If he simply didn't give any of it up, then I would agree but that's not the case. You must be a liberal!
