Greetings!

Most of if not all in the Senate are or were lawyers. I do not believe (having myself run for the US Senate) it is a pre-requisite.

It is, so you know ahead of time a more sought after and more coveted job than even the President.

Without an endorsement from the major party of that state, it is as close to futile as it can be, regardless of the money you have.

Speaking of which, the campaign will probably run upward of six million dollars to even have a chance.

This is why term limits and REAL campaign reform is necessary to enable this country to move forward.

At best, what you have now is simply a good old boys club.

Good Luck

For College - Foreign relations or economics
Become active in local politics (volunteer) and start networking the local level.

Grad School - Law most helpful. Continue to volunteer and network

Run for local small positions and work your way up the political ladder to state rep -- US congress -- US Senate.

Very, Very few people can make the jump straight to the Senate. Those that do must have great name recognition and great contact.

Most Senators are also lawyers. Going to law school would be a good start.

Talk to your counselor. Political Science and law are important. But, its up to voters to put you in office. So, a background in business or education could also be good. Communications could benefit you as well.

Good luck. I hope to see you in the polls someday!
