Because that's how the company makes its money. HP, Lexmark, yadda yadda yadda don't sell ink so that they can sell printers, they sell printers so that they can sell ink.

Printer ink comes from a special tree in Brazil. Very hard to get. Very expensive.

Because we are under their spell. Finding printer ink is hard to do and refilling may last for a while, but soon that does not work. I think they make them so they run out faster each time.

That's how they make their money.
They actually lose money by selling you the printer, and make up for it by charging a higher price for the ink.

B'coz d manufacturer had paid the patent right. Nobody can imitate their ink and sell in the market. If anyone done so, they will be fine.

Because your probably doing what the manufacturer is telling you to do. Get the most expensive one out there.
You can get refillers for a quarter of the cost of a new cartridge.

some places like office depot will give you money off of your ink purchase if you bring in the empty cartridge

I don't know, but for my dell computer it is very pricey.....I am almost out of color ink, it goes so fast when you copy pictures...like lightning speed!
