I think this behavior is presumptious and rude. I know all that puritan B.S. but that is just not what are countryis full of anymore(puritans).

I think that as a voter this is an important ? and no I'm not going to shut up... It's the policies that are important not the religio-sympathetic propaganda these politians keep falling back on. How low is the average american's IQ that they have to have everything political wrapped in a religous blanket?

Not all of them do. Politicians have to sell us on them. I think they show us their families at church and their religion as a way of saying I share your values. I am just like you, a god fearing family man/woman. Truth is most of them are really not at all like the average american. But, when we vote we look for people who share our values and agree with us on issues. The Christian right is a powerful force in this country. I don't know that they are the majority. But, most of them vote and most of them are politically active. Also, a lot of them are very good people.
It's important to note that a lot of Christians are not in the Christian right wing. The right wing does not represent all peoples that believe in Christ. Likewise, the left wing liberals do not represent all people who care about social programs or the environment.
Most Americans are in the middle.
But, I don't think flaunting religion is attractive either. Religion is a personal choice and your relationship with God is private. It's just you and your God. It's not about bragging about how holy you are. It's about being a good leader with integrity, vision, compassion and the intelligence to make good decisions for the majority of people most of the time.

Rude? You have a choice of listening or not. If it is so rude, then DON'T LISTEN. Apparently you are outnumbered. Your statement that the religious spin is puritan BS and that the country is not full of puritans anymore could be true, but about from 80 to 90 percent of the country is CHRISTIAN. Seems to me they do not object to the spin. Of course, if you still want to listen to these speeches but you resent the christian spin, you may contact the speech writers and ask them to omit this christian spin from their speeches. If that does not work, then you need to SHUT UP.

They are all going to say this now but what you need to do is really dig into their PAST history and find out. A lot of them will be suddenly 'converted' in these last days. The reason they do it is cause we are living in some perilous times and even some nonreligious people find comfort in religion leading.

Politicians have been using faith to income capability for an exceedingly, very, very, long term. I doubt that it will stop any time quickly. notwithstanding I do desire that humanity evolves out of our want for faith quickly. This, by the way, is why I evaluate non secular wars to be sturdy on a huge scale...it eliminates the non secular extremists (a minimum of those that could combat over it) from our gene pool.

Because the vast majority of Americans are religious. It is simply smart tactics to identify yourself(the politician) with the populous. It is a populous election after all.

At the moment it is that puritanical. The current congress and president were both elected by the "bible belt" because of their platform of protecting marriage from gay people, and keeping mexicans in mexico. It's unfortunate that people in the Bible belt can't read, because they'll never really understand the irony of their own name.

It's to get as many voters on board as possible. The Christian bloc votes in pretictable patterns.

'Cause the rest of us are more tolerant than the religious right. We can accept the BS- but "religious" Bible thumpers wouldn't support a non-religious candidate. Every single candidate in U.S. history (probably) claims(ed) that they believe(d) in God.

They do it because they don;t have anything else to support their campaign with. They turn to religion because they hope God will forgive them for all the lives they are/will be sacrificing as a politican.
