I just recently got picked up for an interview w/ a respectable bank. A dream career I have been waiting for almost 2yrs. Most (introduction) interviews start out pretty standard. One of the first thing a recruiter will ask is * Have you ever been convicted of a felony?*, I answered "no". However, I failed to mention that I had a misdemeanor in Nov2005-It is still a criminal act. I am really passionate about this career opportunity. I want to tell them, and hope they grade me on performance, not by my past. Since my misdemeanor, I have cleaned up my act, took responsibility for my actions, and went back to college. I became a better person in fact. But I don't think they will be as leinient.

I would appreciate your suggestions. Thank you.

A misdemeanor is definitely not a felony. You have not misrepresented yourself to your employer.

Unless they ask I wouldn't mention it. I know it sounds wrong and you want to start out on the right foot - but in some cases jobs won't hire you just for those little reasons.

Since they may not ever find out about your misdemeanor then I suggest you not tell them and if it ever comes up just say you forgot to mention it. Since you were convicted then it shouldn't matter right?
You told the truth - just not the whole truth.

The question asked, "Were you ever convicted of a FELONY?" You said you had a misdemeanor, and that is not a felony. Stick to your first answer, and don't worry about it.

Not a felony, shouldn't be a problem, and you answered honestly.

If you are fairly certain they will check, then you might be better off getting out in front of it. That would be depend on the conviction though. If it is a traffic violation, who cares. If it was something involving money or violence, keep quiet and hope.

Hey, if they asked about a felony and you don't have one, then you answered the question honsetly. Most employers don't care about misdemeanors, but I wouldn't tell them about it.

Don't tell them - they don't need to know... they asked for felony charges and not misdemeanor charges right?

Why don't you volunteer that you pick your nose and eat your boogers too?

Keep your mouth shut.

Good luck.
