Take Australia for example...Why do they have so few people and all that land? In contrast Japan is small but has way too many people. Is it cultural differences?

Places like Australia and Canada (where I live) have such a small population density because a good portion of the land is uninhabitable. In Australia, most of the country is desert. In Canada, most of the country is tundra and ice. Places like India and China have such a high rate because the population in those countries is fairly high.

Have you done a population study? Australia and Japan might have around the smae number of people, but Japan is considerably smaller. There are many factors that contribute. Japan as a society goes back thousands of years! Same with parts of Egypt, Iraq, Italy, etc.... Not to mention how developed a nation might be. Some of the most densly populated places on the planet are third world countries. Good question, but it seems like there is no simple answer! You'd probably have to do a sh*t load of research!

You have left the most populous countries in Asia like China and the Indian subcontinient. Previously people used to quote that India is just one third of Australia in size but the poulation is more than three times that of Australia. Now this three times I feel should have almost doubled(ie six times).

There are manyfactors. People belonging to certain races like Aryans etc.. have much potency . to multiply.Food /habits are also contributing factors. Those indulging in excessive drinking. smoking etc cannot have good sperm count.

If people are allowed to migrate from one country /Region to another country without any restrictions, which will result ultimately to cross breedings, then there will be well spread population without any discrmination on a/c of race ,religion and culture. The economic disparity and inequlibrium will go off and ultimately bring Peace and Prosperity to all. Will any nation dare agree?

It's also a matter of how long the country was inhabited, how habitable it is, and how habitable it's been before contraceptives became available. I'd say that Japan has always been a really nice place to live, and had a large population prior to the invention of useful contraceptives.

Because to live in Australia you must love the heat and be able to stand all the animals. I think they work hard to preserve the wild life there. Other places I think people leave for more opportunity and new people don't come because the are seeking opportunities that that country probably does not offer.

Well, Australia is about 75% desert, so no one wants to, or can live in most of it. I think there's 2 reasons. One is most people want to live in a comfortable climate. Secondly, alot of the more over crowded countries are either very religious and don't beleive in birth control, or are very poor and don't use birth control or any type of planned parenthood.
