There have been more books than Harry Potter published. There's hundreds of years of literature behind us. What is so special about Harry Potter?

There is nothing wrong with celebrating an accomplished novel or series in our time. While I do enjoy reading classics and such as well, I have read the Harry Potter books and surprisingly found them quite good. I do understand what you are saying - there are many books out there which would merit some good discussion as well, but since the Harry Potter books are so widely read and popular, and because a lot of the people asking these questions are teenagers it is simply more apparent than lots of questions on Charles Dickens, Shakespeare....

I like the books. They're well written and entertaining. I'm 41, so don't go commenting about the 'kids' that read Harry Potter and ask the same questions over and over.

I also read other books. Janet Evanovich, Diana Gabaldon, Nora Roberts, Stephen KIng, and Dean Koontz are just a FEW of the writers whose books I read. I'm glad Harry Potter has come out and encouraged kids to read. Once a child starts reading, they don't stop. In a few years the Harry Potter books will be old and not talked about so much.

And if you want something to gripe about, gripe about snowydragon and malibusurferboy who keep asking about Rory Emerald.

1) Probably due to the average age of Yahoo! Answers users.

2) The record-breaking popularity of the Harry Potter books.

3) Have YOU read the Harry Potter books?

4) Isn't your question contributing to the over-abundance of HP questions?

I agree! The intense publicity and the movies have given the Potter books a fan-type following, much more than simply reading a book.

The "Search for questions" feature of Yahoo Answers is not used enough. This would prevent people from re-asking the same questions over AND over again.

Also - marketing an the media has quite a bit to do with Harry's popularity. One GREAT thing about it is there is a whole new generation of people who can say they actually enjoy reading...

Have you read one o his books ?
It's one of the best stories and it has one of the best movies ever.
When you reasd the book you will feel incredible.you feel that you are part of the story and you are in it.
I get sometimes scared, when something dangerous happens.
All the literatures are old now.We needed something new.In Harry Potter there is action, love, comedy and science fiction together. You see that all the old literatures that were similar to Harry Potter live til now.People still read them. After 100 years peple will still read Harry Potter. It's something new and perfect!!!
