Conan- however as conan comes from real literature and many of the stories are based on the books and stories written by Robert E. Howard it might not be fair to call this a typical comic.
Kind of like putting rickson gracie in as a ringer in a high school wrestling tournament.
The greatest comic is probably Books of Doom or any dr. doom related story. It can't be any xmen because they were a rip off of the fantastic four and magneto a rip off of dr. doom (but it was all in the same company so it didn't matter).
Besides that the best ongoing series has to be Iron Man. Right now he is the most powerful and bad *** superhero that has a regular comic book. He has a healing factor greater than wolverine and can interface with any electronic device without the need for a machine. Is he becoming the lawnmower man? Very likely.

Right now it's the Punisher. I think what Marvel has done with the language and violence in the Punisher has put the comic book on a whole new level plus the stories are pretty good. Of course that's my favorite one right now and that could change at any time

Johnny The Homicidal Maniac. It's the most horribly dark and twisted comic book ever, but at the same time remains funny. That's a very fine line to tread and almost impossible to pull off. Much kudos to Johnny valquez. Also, if it had never got published we would never have had Invader Zim gracing our tv's.

My 2 favorite series of all time are Blade of the immortal and Lone wolf and cub. Who knew that you could have such bloody books in black and white!
My favorite Scene, is when wolf cuts a living Buda in half and as the Buda is splitting he is complimenting him for choosing his path of death. Awesome.
