I always believe in talking out problems..for ex..if you have a problem with your boyfriend talk it out..if you have a problem with a friend talk it out..if you found this out from someone else it may not be true..you should approach your friend and find out whether or not he or she has been talking trash behind your back..then again who would admitt to it..but still talk about it and if your are still not satisfy or still believe that your friend talked about you then I would cut he or she loose..I am also a firm believer in kindness and sincereness so I am not one to put up with negativity...I have cut many friends loose because they act like they have your best interest at heart then you find out later they are only out for themself...
also if you are young maybe in your teens or early twenties here is a saying that I grew up on and it is a life lesson when it comes to deciding who is your true friends. ...here it is..
friends will bring you go but they cant bring you back..
meaning a true friend will have your back no matter what..
and a no good friend will look out only for themself..and leave you hanging in tough situation..

I saw a National Geographic feature on "Corporate Psychopaths" and the profile of bosses or colleagues who 'backstab', etc. is no different from social psychopaths. They all lack one common human function and that is EMPATHY. No use reasoning or rehabilitating such people; simply cut them out from your life.
Conversely, you could apply Positive Thinking and using the Law of Attraction, be positive and these undesirables will disappear from your life! If you like you can refer to http://www.thesecret.tv for more details on positive thinking.

I have had a very similar problem - someone I thought was a good friend walked all over me and it took me a long time to realise what was happening, even though everyone else could see it.
I had to change my job to get away from her, and now that I have cut her out completely I am a lot happier.
There's only so many times you can give someone another chance!

Cut them out of your life, no need to give them fuel to the fire and at the same time you don't need a person like that in your life.

I tend to cut them out of my life...Now, I'm approaching 40 with a few friends and that's about it. People suck, but if you don't want to end up completely alone I suggest getting over it and just know that people suck.

What reason is a good reason to continue a relationship with a backstabber? That would just be setting yourself up for more. I wouldn't think twice about it. Surround yourself with worthy people unless you like the drama.

I simply cut them from my life and go on about my business. And if they confront me with "why, then I tell them.

Cut them off completely! The less they know about you the less they have to work with.
