Say something should "happen" again. I've never thought suspending free elections was possible until now in the USA. Think about it - scary. Bush would claim something lame like "I have experience fighting terror so let me guide America through this." (Republican against Bush)

Our Constitution has "built in" checks and balances. It can never happen.

America held an election in 1864, during the Civil War. So the circumstances would have to be extraordinary indeed - something the US has never seen.

Almost anything is possible, but I strrongly doubt it.

I also strongly doubt that you are a Republican. Many left-leaning web sites advise people to post, saying they are Republicans disgusted with Bush. If I am wrong about you, I apologize.

Nope, that couldn't happen... he still can't stay in office longer than eight years, it's unconstitutional to do that and alter the normal proceedings for elections, even if there was a state of emergency. And what could possibly happen that would cause such widespread panic? Any terrorist act that got past the CIA's intelligence would be isolated. Even if there was another "9/11" it wouldn't stop elections... if anything it would just put him more in or out of favor in the eyes of the American people depending on how he handled it.

As president, he could declare Marshall Law, and suspend the elections, but it would have to be an extreme case of emergency, like a declared war.

It wouldn't work. The people would rise up in arms, whether they supported him or not. We have a right to overthrow the government, and in a case like that we should.

Support you local revolution!!!

No, that would take the congres to pull off. Bush doesn't have enough authority to declare that.

That would be pretty cool. I'd rather keep Bush in office than have Hilary elected.
