It is the syndrome of empires, this has been so since the beginning of history. The only problem with the united states (that country between Canada and the united states of Mexico which has no name) is that there is no place for empires in the XXI. Now there are more and faster communications and transportation that make people all over the world more aware of the intentions of the leaders of some countries that want to continue or expand their empire.
Also there are urban guerrillas now in case some leaders make the stupid decision of invading other countries.

Let me enlighten you by telling you about something I saw on TV in the 1980s about the United States Military, it'll hopefully open your eyes and let you see the world as it really is, and not how some of you people think it is. During the cold war, American, German and British armed forces used to hold mini war games in what was the old West Germany (and this was off an American News Channel by the way), in these mini war games the Germans usually won, the British usually came second and the Americans usually came third. The best equipped were the Americans the next best were the Germans and way behind were the British, British equipment was cr@p even they admitted that, it was cr@p but they still came second after the Germans in front of the Americans. Sometimes its not what you've got but how you use it, and you want to thank your lucky stars and hope an prey that you never have to meet the Germans again on a battlefield especially if your on your own. Now think on and sod off.

We do live in a unique country. It is the people of this country who makes it superior. We are, for the most part, people with Christian values, compassionate and hard working, FREE to go and come whenever we want. We care and help out many other countries, we don't get much back, not even appreciation. What can you say about you're country? Oviously you're not an American, but which you were, right?

Who says they do?

Maybe your prejudice comes from the fact that you think your country is superior.

Anyway, some reasons US citizens might feel superior:

A long waiting list of people trying to get INTO the country...something must be right here.

Social mobility that is superior to most any other nation (except perhaps Australia or a few others)

The largest GDP in the world.

A long list of scientific and technical innovation (see this year's Nobel Prizes, Edison, Wright Brothers, Henry Ford, etc)

Well part of such a sentiment may stem from saving the world twice in a row, WWI and WWII. Also we possess one of the greatest achievements the world has seen to date. The peace-full transition of one government to another. This has rarely been accomplished in world history.
Also, we possess the worlds most awesome military power. If so desired, would could go to war with any nation in the world and mobilize just as quickly.
However, I must bring to your attention the fact that many nations believe themselves superior. This is a common theme which simply shows the pride one has for their country.
So to answer your question: We are proud, we are unique and this is the best country on God's green earth. Thank you very much.

I think America does 30% of the worlds business. That's one reason, but it doesn't make America superior.

this is just a feeling it is superior in tech. with the help of mostly indians and japanese, in cars it is superior with the help of koreans and japanese again. in industry it is superior b'coz of the labour of all the ppl. frm world. and in case of fashion mostly from italia. so i don't know why they feel like this. they were thinking that they have strong security but with the crash of WTC it is proven that self praise has no recomendaation. but if you talk about the values and the praise of relationships and their honor they don't know anything so in what way they are superior. and those who feel that they live in unique country then they are right it is unique b'coz it have very few native americans and the rest of population from all over the world

In my class a few of us say that having a diversity of all cultures and religions that not any other part of the world can say is what makes us superior.

There's not much to America, trust me I know, but an ego. All the OTHER countries in this world feel the need to pump. Take that ego away, and we're left with nothing.

Sad, but true!
