Hosting companies, racks and racks of computer hard drives, holds the html data and images that make up a web page. When you put the url into your web browser it sends a query to a domain name computer... sort of like a phone book, and redirects your request to the current hosting company housing the web page you're requesting. That "website" folder on the hosting company's computer then sends you the needed html file and your computer's browser interprets that file and displays it for you on your screen.
