Jo'Burg is an interesting city with much culture but I would not recommend it as a honeymoon destination. Instead, many people see it as a "gateway" city that allows access to many other areas. For instance, you may want to take an African Safari with Kruger National Park where you can spot animals and spend star filled evenings under the stars. You WILL see some amazing wildlife (i.e. lions, rhinos, elephants, leopards, etc.) However, if the outdoors is not for you, take a short flight down to Capetown which is absolutely beautiful! You can go shopping on the ocean, take a sailboat ride, watch whales swim up to the shore, or head down to Hermanus and go shark diving!
Just remember every city has it's riches and Johannesburg's is it's convenience to other places. It is somewhat dangerous in Johannesburg so take caution and do your homework. I'd be happy to give you anymore info you may need. Visited Africa in 2004 and loved it.

Just outside Jhb is the Lasidi Cultural Centre which, for about R280.00 per head, you can watch native dancing, get a very good meal thrown in, and 'chat' to tribal elders of various African tribes. Great for a day out.
Also, going out of Jhb on the R512, visit the re-vamped Cradle of Humankind museum. Well worth a visit & also a good half day tour.
Get a car & go off to Pillansburg game park (about 2 hours out of the city). Great game viewing & Sun City is right next door for a bit of gambleing, if that's your thing.
There are balloon safari's that run out of Hartbeespoort, about 3/4 hour out of the city: check your hotel desk for details, they should have them. TRhis runs at about R1250.00 per head.
Also out the same way is the elephant santury which is pretty good, at about R360.00 per head including a meal & game drive.
There are various 'safari' drive companies who will pick you up at your hotel & take you out for the day. one I've seen offers a horse riding game viewing experience. I've not tried that one myself, but sounds like a lot of fun.
SA Breweries museum in Newtown Jhb, charges R10.00 for a tour & a couple of frosties thrown in. Also good for a couple of hours.
Out the Mahalisberg way (also about an hour out the city) is a very nice cheese factory, where you can sit outdoors & enjoy a very nice platter of food for about R45.00 per head, plus booze.
Gold Reef city is worth a whirl, and the apartheid museum is a well worth look-see (right next door).
If you're hiring your own car, spend R160.00 on a Wits road finder (available from CNA, a version of WH Smiths book shop) of gauteng (jhb & pretoria) to find you way around.
If your partner wants shopping then Sandton City is a great shopping mall, probabley one of the best in SA.
If you want african tribal art etc to buy as presents, then go out to Chamellion village, near Hartbeesport, on the weekend (there's also a great pancake house there for lunch). Don't pay the shopping mall prices for this stuff.
Brightwater Commons is ok for a few hours of shopping, eating & generally chilling out.
Anything else, ask at the hotel desk: tell them what you want to do & they'll give you a list.
