Why can't America evolve past ts hangups about sex? Nudity is such a bad thing here and in other countries its the norm?
Why can't we evolve it seems we ahve less rights and more censorship every day. Are we going backwards?

I don't think it is norm in most countries--clothes actually have a protective purpose. Ever sit in sticky weeds? Not pleasant.

Maybe not prudish--just more selective.
There are a lot of droolers out there and we don't want to encourage them. Or look at them.

Nice try

I know....it's funny though...in a country that promotes sexuality the way it does(and I'm not complaining)...and cries and moans about morality when kids are sexually active.

talk about mixed messages!

Hahaha....what about Ashcroft covering Lady justice b/c her boob was showing!....LOL.

Now that was funny:)

Edit:
Colour and cwriter...apparently you two were not present when that was taught, re: how America was founded!

Jamestown was the the 1st..King James 1 granted the private proprietorship to the Virginia Company. That became the Virginia Colony and they were the first in America.

Excluding the "lost colony"...

Puritans didn't come until 10 years or so later!

Also while it is true many of the founder fathers were Christians...many were also Diests.....I suggest you do some research before you post such erroneous statements!

My question is why are Americans so obsessed with sex? Just about every song on the radio is about something sexual, a good portion of our ads use women and sex to sell their product, Almost every other episode of any show on TV refers to sex in some way. I almost see it as Americans have a maturity issue. Just like Junior High kids laugh and make sexual jokes while they are going through puberty. Maybe most Americans haven't grown out of this stage yet. And until your over the hangup of seeing your Grandma and your Father naked, I think we should stick to clothes. As for evolving I think according to the "evolution theory" as we evolved we started wearing clothes.

Actually, it is not true that we are going backwards in the case of nudity on television. Have you watched TV lately? Like the show Nip/Tuck.....they show butts on there all the time among other things.....I'd be damned if they showed that in the 1950's.

And we have nude places for people who want that life style....we give them their rights while protecting the rights of others.

America is far from prudish, we're becoming a sick society. I've seen it getting worse over the years. Sex crimes are becoming more common. We're becoming an "everything goes" society. Children being exposed to more and more things they shouldn't be. We can't even watch Oprah for God's sake without sex being the main topic.

We need to be teaching our children morals and respect for themselves. Have you seen these people on myspace, putting half naked/naked pics up of themselves to show the whole world? That's out of control. We need to lead our children by example and stress monogamy. STDs are rampant. We're gonna end up like Africa if we don't straighten out.

Because our founding fathers were conservative Christians who left England because of religious persecution. That conservative attitude has continued.
Have you lived in foreign countries where nudity is "the norm"?
We still have more rights than anywhere else in the world. It may seem that's not so because of the attempt to protect us from terrorism.

Where exactly is nudity the norm?

In my travels, I've noticed that the vast majority of people wear clothes.

I believe it is because America tends to scare everyone with the possibility of disease. You don't know what out there. I dont think they stress it as much in other countries, but they should.

because america was founded by puritans--that ****** their handsmaids and kids, while at the same time, getting offended at someone not coming to church.

Some of them still exist in Boston and in mass, but eventually they will die off and we can all be rid of the great oppression of double standards and hypocrits. After all, they are the biggest broadcasters of pedophilic porn in the whole world, so its not a surprise they will eventually go **** themselves.
