I sit near a coworker who doesn't have a problem with burping loudly and not holding back at all. He will just let it rip, not hold back at all and then say quietly, "excuse me". This has gotten under my skin and I feel like screaming at him, I find it so gross to have to sit and listen to it all day everyday. He is also the most annoying person to work with ever. He joins in on every conversation in the office, personal or work related and no matter where you are he just suddenly shows up. He has long, loud personal phone calls that will go on for 20 mins or more, usually someone ends up emailing him and telling him to take the outside.
Would it be rude to point out that personal noises should be kept to yourself? Excuse me doesn't mean you can just let it rip and then you are ok once you say excuse me.

Hi there burping and annoying guy,
Please quit offending your co workers with your disgusting bodily noises. Excuse me's do not take the grossness of these acts away. You also need to butt out of everyone's business. You only need to be involved if they ask your opinion or ask for your help. It will be very hard for you if you are fired do to these problems because it will be hard to explain to your future employers that you were let go because you have disgusting personal habits and create a negative environment for your co workers.
Sincerely,
a guy on yahoo answers that doesnt know you and hopes he never will

1. You've let this become too much of a psychological issue for you. Changing your attitude will go a long way in making it easier to deal with him.
2. Take your concerns to your supervisor. Let them know the things that make it difficult to perform your work (especially the phone calls) and they should speak with the individual.
3. If that doesn't work well enough, simply sit down and speak with the individual about the issues. It really isn't that hard to just have a conversation with someone.

Spend no more time and attention than absolutely necessary near that person. Ask to be moved. Shop for another job.
Don't talk up the person's indescretions, but don't omit them when asked why you are distant or snubbing that person. The one is gossip at best and slander at worst (for which you could be sued). The other is a necessary explanation that keeps you from becoming the 'bad guy'. Discretion, patience, and look for every opportunity to be somewhere else without jeapordizing your job. Remember, if the boss doesn't know, the boss can't and won't fix it, but the boss needs to know that you aren't the problem.

I would talk to your HR dept and address these concerns. Or, if you want to be cruel, you and several of your co-workers can send this guy an anonymous gift, like "gas-ex" with a note attached saying "to help with your bodily dis-functions". It'll be a gag! Try it out and have some fun.

First, I would pull that person to the side and had a talk with them, and if this doesn't help I will have to go to the supervisor so they can hand it.

Sounds like you need to have a talk with his supervisor about the problems.

My advise is that you ask him stop in a nice voice and tell him that it is distracting you. If he continues to do it then tell your boss in a calm voice that he is distracting you from doing your job. Your boss should talk to him about being polite. but make sure you talk to him first.

Tell him what you think. He obviously has no problem expressing himself no matter how coarse. You can't always get what you want, but you can let your wishes known, however.
