Did you take your vows when you got married? For better or worse? Don't be so quick to give up!! You must make this a last resort. If you have tried everything and have no other recourse, then divorce the bum, but if you have children, PLEASE try to get this fixed somehow. I have been there and done that, but if I had give up, I would not have a sober partner, and a happy life today. I refused to give up, and refused to walk away. I did threaten to have her committed, and the whole family came down on her, but we went to a doctor, and got the proper help, and now she has been alcohol free for many years now, and we have a really good life. I could have gave up, but I refused to. I could have walked away, but just where would I have went? The worst thing was getting her to admit she was out of control. I got everybody we knew to tell her she was an alcoholic, and told her "they all can't be wrong" so you are going to get help, like it or not!! You got to get tough, and tell them you love them is why you are doing what you are doing. Some people can't be helped because they got nothing to care about. If you walk away, that will be the last thing they cared about, and will be their ticket to go over the edge and totally into the pit. Don't let them do this to theirself. Be strong, and get help from anyone that you can talk into helping, but don't give up just yet. Good Luck!!!

If he drives drunk with a child in the car, maybe you should help him get caught BEFORE he gets the both of them killed! I do think people are quick to get divorced, and do it without thinking what it will do to the children. You can't live in a damed if you do, and a damed if you don't situation. You have made up your mind already, and you are just looking for other people to say go ahead. Sometimes this is all one can do. Sad for the children, but one must have their sanity, and be with someone they can love and respect. Once you loose the respect, the love fades very fast too. Think about what you are doing though. Do you think he would try to harm himself IF you leave him? My best friend left her husband, and he ended up killing himself right in front of her with a gunshot to the head. The girl is a mess, and has been for a long time now. She can't get into a serious relationship with a guy now, because all she see's is the gun going off, over and over in her mind. I think she blames herself for his actions. She was cheating on him with another guy, because they weren't divorced. Do yourself a favor, and don't get involved with someone else until you are sure this is the right thing to do, or you could regret it. I hope this is some help to you Good Luck!!!
