I have heard several rumors and seen websites that Sarah Michelle Gellar will play the role of Sabrina in a new Sabrina the Teenage Witch movie (do a simple search on yahoo). According to some, she beat Britney Spears and Melissa Joan Hart for the role. As a teen of the 90s, I was a huge fan of the show and watched all the movies. I personally cannot imagine anyone other than Melissa Joan Hart being Sabrina and am outraged that after having done so many movies and seasons of the show, she was not chosen. Some might argue that Sarah M.G. is prettier, but why screw up the original, who so many of us have grown up with? What do you think?

I think you are right Melissa Joan Hart should play Sabrina the teenage witch. If there was some reason they did not pick her Sarah Michelle Gellar would be a good choice

I checked out Sarah Michelle Gellar's imdb site and there was no mention of it and they're pretty good about stuff like that. Also, I did an imdb search for Sabrina the Teenage Witch and only came up with the TV show. Hope this helps!

hollywood is really lost, they do nothing but stupid sequels to try to make it past another year. Sabrina the teenage witch can not be played by Melissa Joan Hart, the woman is no longer a teenager. Who cares what b-list girl they will get for that movie i hope i do not hear from this again.

she's too old for the part.
now if it's going to be about a grown-up sabrina it should be melissa joan hart playing the role.
but i'm not sure how many people will go to see it.

she is pretty, and I am glad they're not using whorey used-up britney spears, and I have never seen the 90's version so I'd be ok with it.
Aside from that, I liked the choice of Nicole Kidman to play Samantha in Bewitched but they ruined it by choosing doofus farrell. Jim Carrey would have been perfect.
