My best friend was a guy when I was younger. We hooked up, then split, then fought for a year. Now, we are close friends again. I hated that time that we fought and wished we could have just went back to being friends again. If you guys were really good friends before and you want that friendship back, I say "go for it." If you find he has other intentions, then you will have to back off. I treasure my friendship that I have. We both moved on and married other people, but I still have that friendship to be proud of. It's been 18 years. Very special.

ANY MAN WHO IS FRIENDS WITH A WOMAN, HAS WAITING IN THE BACK OF HIS MIND A PLAN TO GET THAT WOMAN INTO BED. This is a fact. If he has a g/f yet still wants to see you, then you know what his intentions are. IF you want to see him, tell him to bring his g/f along.

You should talk to him and ask him straight out what his intentions are, if you want to stay as mates, then behave like that! Make the choice, but don't be alone with him for a while so you can figure out you and what you want.

Do as I say not as I do!

In other words, you are wondering if you want to be the understudy when the primary is out of town? When single, once you have broken up, never have a reconciliation. If married then reconcilation is different because every marriage goes through stress.

People change with time. He may just miss the friendship you two had. You both need time to readjust. Time may help to bring forward the true feeling for both of you.

If you've already hooked up with him... he only wants one thing. He thinks you're good for doing tricks... but still wants to stay with his current honey. He wants his cake and eat yours too.

He's made his choice, move on to someone else.
