You probably have it on roaming mode, in this mode it tries to get signals off of near-by people's phones- thus exhausting the battery life. Look at the roam settings, and take it off roam. This might result in little service while you are on the train, but you would be preserving your battery charge.

if you have the provider Sprint then your battery will continue being weak no matter what phone you are using. That phone provider is always looking for service and that drains the battery. You will have to switch providers to get a better battery life.

I'm just guessing; I don't really know a lot about phones, but with mine, if I've been somewhere that my phone has to roam a lot, that drains my battery. The phone's working so hard to find a signal, it drains quicker. There's often a lot of metal in trains, and you're often having to go through a lot of tunnels, so your phone may need to roam to find a signal.

COULD BE A BAD BATTERY AND IF IT'S A TRI-MODE PHONE AND YOUR IN ANALOG YOU WILL DRAIN YOUR BATTERY A LOT FASTER. TAKE IT IN TO YOUR LOCAL PHONE STORE WHERE THERE ARE TECHNICIANS AND HAVE THEM LOOK AT IT AND SEE IF IT'S YOUR BATTERY. YOU MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A NEW PHONE!

Probably because it goes into "SEEK" for periods of time and this will drain the power. Try turning off when are in areas of poor reception.
