we have been living together for 3 years, dating for 2 and we are going on our 5th yr in March, we plan on getting married but not for a few more years. We are getting ready to buy a new house together, and i want my name on the mortgage,so that my credit can do even better. What is a good way to go about asking my
"alpha male" Boyfriend? He is not into me paying for anything to do with our houses,at all. Any suggestions?

"to the person who asked why i cant take one day and make my relationship legal by getting married?"--My bf is 22 i am 24--we want to wait it out and make sure its right instead of jumping into a marriage and then divorce like everyone else. Marriage is sacred and i would marry him tomorrow but he just isnt ready for that yet.

As a partner in this relationship, I agree with you and your name should be on the mtg. I am not sure if you are helping with the deposit or not, if not, maybe he feels it's his deposit and his mortgage but absolutely whether you help with a deposit or not, as a couple going into this together you have every right to tell him you want your name on all paperwork regarding the new house. If he wants to pay for everything, good, let him, save your money........ Enjoy your new home.

I have to wonder if your relationship is so happy and you are ready to buy a house together, why you can't take one day of your time to make a real committment in your relationship and get married and make things legal?

tell him you would like to be in it to help your credit score also think about it this way- if you were to separate at least you won't be left in the cold- you'll have a house you can sell. Be assertive about it though!
