Now why would you generalize conservatives like that?! I'm one and while I don't agree a lot with science I feel I'm pretty sane, and for the most part get thru the day with some rational thoughts and I am big into learning. The betterment of the human race is my cause and hopefully I can do a little of it everyday. I am a Christian and Republican but they haven't had to lock me up or pad me yet. I've met a lot of liberals who don't always agree with science, get thru the day with some rational thoughts and they to like to learn. Why even some of them want to better the human race. Just becouse I don't agree with them for the most part doesn't make them monsters anymore than do the Conservatives. You are to biased!

They don't, really. It's just that they honestly believe that their way is bettering the human race and the nation. Read John Dean's Conservatives Without Conscience to learn a little about why what are apparent contradictions to us are acceptable to those personality types. What we need to do as liberals is to show folks that science is not incompatible with religion; rational thought is not incompatible with high ideals; knowledge is not incompatible with faith; and the betterment of the human race can be achieved without leaning on issues that are dividing us.
Can you imagine if we were to come together on poverty, what we could achieve?

Oh Please, what a loaded statement! I think you should put in more cliche's next time. How ridiculous. And FYI, I like liberals, and having open discussions about views and politics. Personally, I may not agree, but I believe it is very healthy to debate issues rather than becoming myopic and hard headed.
This is from the first link listed below.
"It's dangerous to label and assume the worst of anybody. Conservatives have a different perspective than liberals, different priorities, and different ways of approaching societal ills. It's wise to learn why we hold specific views, or what the well-developed conservative position is before passing judgment on ideas that may initially make no sense.
And actually, the fully-informed method of approaching the opposition should be the norm for all of us."
Please go to the links provided and learn something beyond the soundbites.

Nice loaded question.
Because we conservatives deal with REALITY, we don't live in a left-wing utopian socialist delusion.
The conservative mind recognizes the default setting of the cosmos: zero, and then seeks to construct. While the liberal mind assumes utopia and then works backwards, which is why you criticize and try to destroy everything in power, the end result of which is pure hypocrisy as you become the power you so despise.
Isn't the fruition of the leftist world view to turn the government into a single, consolidated all-powerful corporation?

It just seems that way. What they want are all the benefits of science and knowledge while denying those benefits to the rest of us. The rich will always be able to get safe abortions whether they are legal or not, but would gladly force the poor to bare unwanted children if they can garner a few votes from fundi rubes. They will use whatever tools available to remain in power, including lies and voter fraud.

The embroyo is an incredible miracle and destroying it to somehow feed, implant, transplant or somehow give Michael J Fox stem cells on the chance it might help him stop shaking is ridiculous. Why do liberals disregard life in its most fragile and incredible form?....the liberal brain is incredibly dilutted, apparently liberals are short on stem cells or something.
By the way....rational thought should include the knowledge that there is no way we evolved from slime and that some intelligent force is behind this thing called life.

Wow I love these generalisations. Such rational thought obviously went into the question. It reminds me of questions like this: Why are all men wife beaters? Why are all women bad drivers? Why are all Muslims terrorists? Why are all Jews cheap? Why are all whites racist?
Can you see where I'm going with this, or is it too irrational?

Because they want to keep tradition and keep their culture and values that they feel is important. With development and science, more information is gained towards changing their current 'perfect' world, the way it should be. Conservative people value constancy and the stability of things they believe in a constantly changing world. It's the one thing that they can hold onto in a world where they fear the unknown aspects of change. By holding onto their beliefs and resisting change, they wield their power as the tradition keepers to keep their heritage alive and their power over the younger generations, including their feelings of supremacy and hold over the world.

Most conservatives were mistreated as children, imo. They see life as a tradeoff where they give all control to powerful people and beg for crumbs of benefits.
Then, they behave in a punitive manner toward everyone who doesn't believe as they do. Conservatives would make perfect feudal serfs.
Conservatives want to destroy anything that threatens the status quo or the power of those currently in authority. They are against the type of change that produced the American Revolution and all that has come after in the way of uplift for the human spirit and benefit to the individual human life.
I can't imagine living in that miserable, negative fashion, so my gratitude to my parents is immense, simply for not being conservatives.
