as i bowl competitively on a league, it is actually a sport. If i did it just to do it, then it is a recreational activity.

I think it's supposed to be a recreational activity but people i have bowled against act like it's a do or die sport.Although I see it as a sport since people actually get paid big bucks to do it!

BOTH. It's obviously a recreational activity BUT it doesn't cancel it out as a sport. I think as a sport it's boring as hell.
My husband however, is really good. He was once trying to go pro.
-Tell him it's not a sport and I'm sure you'd get an earful.
