Listen...
On the wall behind your bed. Take an extra flat set of the sheets that match your bed and staple them to the wall odd side out and fold the top down (preferably using a sheet set that has a decorative or scalloped edge) and over making a kind of envelope effect.
Take the color pallet off the sheets and paint the other three walls that color using a lighter shade of the same color on the ceiling and a medium tone on the walls and the darker tone on the trim...
It's an old trick but probably old enough that it's time for it to make a comeback... Try it! Debbie Travis would be impressed if you did it right...

I believe you should stick with colors that make you feel good. I often thought about the colors I would use when I buy a house. I want cream and wood in my living room accented with brass and candels. I would stick with a soft sensual color for my bedroom. lavender is suppose to be a sexy color and lavender scent is relaxing. Another bedroom color could be a dark red, cranberry, or marroon. I love earthy tones personally. My kitchen I would go with something bright and happy, bathroom, a water or fish theme. Most importantly, stick with a color that goes with your personality.

i would recommend a mix of colors ( I.E. red an yellow to create a mid-orange)
but dont completely mix them, leave them a little bit unmixed so that it creates a cool colorful wall. because it is made of red and yellow (or the colors you choose) lines through the wall and in the places it mixes, it creates a nice orange (or mix of colors you chose)
in other words... try using color patterns instead of a plain color
