my six month old is just now in size 3. we were in size two for about 2 months. size one for about 3. newborn for about 1. i would only buy lots of newborn thru size 1. it is true, want to hear it or not, babies change and grow at different rates so you may have too many of the big ones. most stores (like wal-mart) will let you do an even exchange for the unopened diapers. good luck.

ON average, a baby only uses about 2-3 jumbo size bags of the size 1 and about that same amount in size 2. Once the baby gets into size 3, they usually use a lot more bags. Luckily, most places will exchange an unopened bag of diapers for different sizes if needed.

My son was in size 1 diapers for almost 3 months I think but he was only 6lbs when I brought him home so he was in newborn diapers for almost 2 months.
I would get 2 packages of size 1 diapers and 2 packages of size 2 diapers. I would be pretty confident that he would use all these diapers. Remember to that even if they dont use them, keep the receipt and take them back. This is what I did when I found out I couldn't use luvs because they leak too much. I just took back the other package of diapers that I had.
Check out pampers.com or huggies.com and register. They will send you new coupons that might not expire until after your baby is born.
Good luck

You can't tell because every body's babies doesn't grow at the same rate. And the weight and height requirements on the diapers can be misleading. Because my daughter is like 22 pounds and she's still short for her age, but it says on the diaper size she's a size 4, but she has to wear a size 5 because she's got kind of a tummy that pokes out like her daddy. It's better to get them too big then too little. And another thing: Buy in bulk! I always buy the boxes of diapers, And the BEST diapers for newborn babies is Pampers Swaddlers. That's it... My baby was a premie so she had the Swaddlers from Preemie to size 2! If you have a membership at Sam's Club they have pretty big boxes, Toys R Us, basically everywhere carries them and you can use your coupons. Then after the Swaddlers get Huggies Supreme... If you get those 2 brands you'll never go wrong! But I wouldn't get all the sizes yet.. I would get like a box or 2 of the 1's.. and then you'll see how quick he grows out of them.. And then you can gage what size he'll need from there. Because babies go through a lot of diapers especially if they're breastfed because they have more bowel movements. But getting a giant box of Swaddlers lasted me like a month! (And don't be too proud to snag all the diapers you can from the hospital!!!) Lol. Hope that helps.

Our daughter was early, small, and sick (had to have a couple surgeries), so she lost a bunch of weight and was preemies and newborns (diapers and clothes) for a couple months. My boys, on the other hand... They were 11lbs each, so they never even used the newborns. I had bought a pack when I was pregnant with our 2nd, and ended up returning them after he was born (along with all the newborn size clothes! They didn't even reach his shoulders! LOL) I would only buy one small pack for now, and a couple packs of size 1's. They'll eventually grow into those, but they may not need newborns at all. You can always ask someone to run to the store before you bring the baby home, if you need to. Good luck with the new baby! Hope this helps!

Well, it does depend. My daughter was in size 1 and 2 longer than most, because she is smaller for her age. She's in 3 now, but now we are getting to potty training age. She probably stayed longest in the size 2. Just buy a few of each, they go quicker than you realize. You'll be through them all in no time. Also, something to think about is what if you buy a bunch of a certain brand, and don't end up liking them? Then you'll have a bunch of diapers you don't want to use. I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself. I constantly see and get coupons for diapers, either from family, or in the mail.

Assuming an 8lb baby, you can probably expect 1 week of NB size, and about 6 weeks of size 1 (depending on the brand). Also, most stores let you exchange an UNOPENED package of diapers for a different size, so go ahead and buy size 1's, and just trade 'em in for 2s if your baby grows too fast.

My son is now a 13 months old and has been wearing size three diapers since he was about 5-6 months old. It will all depend on your child and how much he/she grows. BUT size 3 goes from like 18-25lbs so it's safe to say unless he unusually large or small then (s)he should be in them for a while.

You cant determine how many of each u need. Example my son weighed 6.4 lbs at birth and at 4 weeks he is just able ti fit into most size 1. We have a box of size 1 since most companies dont have newborn and we have gone thru 250 newborn swaddlers already. If you have an idea how big ur baby is now u can get an idea of the diapers. If you buy to many u can always sell the leftover. Good luck

Gosh, that really is a hard question to answer. I stocked up on diapers before my second child was born, and I haven't had to buy him diapers yet (he's 6 months old). He is about 16 lbs and still in size one diapers. If you have the storage space for it, buy diapers in size one for about 3-4 months. If you want to and have space for it, stock up on bigger sizes also. I think it all depends on how much space you have.
If your child grows out of one size of diapers, you can always keep smaller diapers for your next child, or can give them to friends for shower gifts. People will also buy them on craigslist if you have some you need to sell. Sorry I couldn't be any more help.
