HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, can be transmitted from an infected person to another through:
* Blood (including menstrual blood)
* Semen
* Vaginal secretions
* Breast milk
Blood contains the highest concentration of the virus, followed by semen, followed by vaginal fluids, followed by breast milk.
* Activities That Allow HIV Transmission
* Unprotected sexual contact
* Direct blood contact, including injection drug needles, blood transfusions, accidents in health care settings or certain blood products
* Mother to baby (before or during birth, or through breast milk)
Sexual intercourse (vaginal and anal): In the genitals and the rectum, HIV may infect the mucous membranes directly or enter through cuts and sores caused during intercourse (many of which would be unnoticed). Vaginal and anal intercourse is a high-risk practice.
Oral sex (mouth-penis, mouth-vagina): The mouth is an inhospitable environment for HIV (in semen, vaginal fluid or blood), meaning the risk of HIV transmission through the throat, gums, and oral membranes is lower than through vaginal or anal membranes. There are however, documented cases where HIV was transmitted orally, so we can't say that getting HIV-infected semen, vaginal fluid or blood in the mouth is without risk.
Sharing injection needles: An injection needle can pass blood directly from one person's bloodstream to another. It is a very efficient way to transmit a blood-borne virus. Sharing needles is considered a high-risk practice.
Mother to Child: It is possible for an HIV-infected mother to pass the virus directly before or during birth, or through breast milk. Breast milk contains HIV, and while small amounts of breast milk do not pose significant threat of infection to adults, it is a viable means of transmission to infants.

Like everyone has said through bodliy fluids. But Chimps carry the HIV virus that causes AIDS. It doesn't affect them. Since chimps are like ninty something percent genetically similar. There was a good deal of research and attemps to transplant chimp bone marrow into human. They not sure how it was started. In Africa they sluagther chimps and its speculated that's how they contracted the virus. Then Red Cross workers who were down there brought back to the states. Again, its transmitted through contacting of the affected persons bodily fluids. The reason homosexual's are stereotyped for spreading HIV, is due the fact HIV is transmitted easier through anal intercourse. The lining of the rectrum is so senistive, small tears still occur even with the safest precautions allowing the semen to mix the blood stream. For vaginal, sex it's a little tougher, BUT it can still happen. It does affect sexual relationships. As with most STDs, symptoms won't show up for days to weeks. You need to practice safe sex and get tested regulary if you have a promiscuous life style. Or, save yourself of the right person and the right time (if either you been with many ya should get tested). Whatever works for you. Other than that, you need to excercise caution around someone's blood and stuff. Before they knew about AIDS really, people got it through blood transfusions, but the Red Cross and such go to alot of trouble to avoid that from happening again. I think the biggest problem with the AIDS virus is that it attacks the iummine system itself. So, a vaccine is out of the question pretty much.

An exchange of bodily fluids (semen, blood, vaginal fluids, feces, urine) When an AIDS/HIV infected persons bodily fluid enters a noninfected persons system the noninfected person has a large chance of contracting the virus as well...
Ways bodily fluids can be transfered.. Sharing a hypodermic needle with an infected person Ithey use the needle and some of thier blood can remain in the needle and on the needle when you use it you are exposed to that left over blood) .. Having unprotected sex with an infected person.. (even with protection there is a chance of contracting AIDS/HIV condoms do fail) ... Blood transfusion (the US blood supply is very safe now, with each donation being screened for AIDS/HIV, although in the past people did contract AIDS/HIV from this sourse) ... Feces and urine this transfer form is most concerning to care givers...(day care workers, nurses, hospital staff, people who regularly work with these materials) If a care giver changes a diaper, bedpan etc not wearing protective gloves and has a cut or break in the skin the transfer can occur.. Healthcare workers can also contract AIDS/HIV from an accidental stick from a tainted needle used in healthcare or from an accidental cut as surgeons sometimes get from a scalpal during surgery...
People who are not exposed to needles, feces, urine , semen, vaginal fluids, etc during thier work usually contract the virus through sharing of tainted hypodermic needles for drug use or unprotected sex...

When boredom, depression, or perhaps stress causes cravings, find a nonfood way to meet them such as going for a walk, calling a friend, getting a bath, reading a book, or doing some yoga.
