One of my favourites was Noggin the Nog

----------------------------------- Source 1 describes more eloquently
"In the lands of the North, where the black rocks
stand guard against the cold sea, in the dark night
that is very long, the men of the Northlands sit by
their great log fires and they tell a tale..."

SmallFilms' bleak and brilliant Norse tales focused on Noggin, King of the Nogs, of the Northlands and his endeavours to keep his wicked Uncle, Nogbad the Bad, from getting his hands on the throne of the Nogs. Instead of 'stories' we had 'sagas' to watch, in keeping with the Viking/Icelandic concept.

By the end of the first saga, Noggin was married to the beautiful eskimo Nooka, and in time they had a son called Knut. Noggin reported all the royal affairs to the Council of Elders. The bravest Nog soldier was Noggin's friend Thor Nogson, and the strongest was Olaf The Lofty. Many recall the royal bird Graculus, who was
akin to a vey large cormorrant.
----------------------------------- than I can type

But was Nooka perhaps the inspiration for the word Nookie?

But I have to say that I think Captain Pugwash beats Noggin.
Both were about clumsy inept heroes overcoming evil villainous arch rivals - but the inept jing along theme tune on Pugwash was inspiring, and parents would watch Pugwash alongside the children.

For more on Pugwash visit the source for
--------------------------------------------- source 2
"Plundering Porpoises! Jumping jellyfish! Harrowing hurricanes!"
blustered pirate Captain Pugwash to the work-shy crew of his ship the Black Pig as they sailed the Seven Seas and encountered adventures. The rotund Captain. always bold before the event, with a tendency to get into scrapes (and make a speedy exit forthwith) was a star of this, originally, very basic animated programme, in which speech was simulated by moving a piece of card behind the character's open mouths. The Good Captain was a simple man and no match for his various shiver-me-timbers foes but fortunately he was regularly rescued from the clutches of black-bearded arch villain Cut-Throat Jake (of the 'Flying Dustbin') by the cunning and courage of the Black Pig's cabin boy Tom.
---------------------------------------------
At this source you can play a small video clip (you have to imagine you are 9 years old to enjoy it!
But you ansolutely must listen to the signature tune

I offer you Captain Pugwash as my answer

Scooby Doo, Bugs Bunny and the Roadrunner!

Scooby Doo was fun for the mysteries and adventure. I always loved Bugs Bunny's sarcasm and costumes. And, I enjoyed the Roadrunner always outwitting Wile E. Coyote!
