There will be a few South Africans and loads of british people, the email (!) invite stated: ''no dress code but the british tend to dress smarter''.
It will be in a school chapel for about 30mins and then snacks and drinks afterwards as it's the kids 1st b-day too.

why not go in fancy dress. You'll be the star of the show for both the adults and kids if you go dressed as, for example, a 6ft rabbitt.

lol im british and i wouldnt say our dress code for occasions like that was any different from anyone else.
id say the advice you have been given is great. it depends on the weather where you are at present. either go for a dress or if its abit colder trousers and a nice top. whatever you feel comfortable in what you are wearing really. id agree with the statement - dress as you would for a wedding. good luck x

Do not wear your birthday suit, As you have been told it is British, well we are a funny race we wear clothes of all sorts , but to satisfy the family who have invited you, you are honouring their child dress smart and yet comfortable

where anything you would wear to church on a normal sunday. Some slacks and a blouse, or a casual dress and sandals. Dress better than you would if you were going to the corner store, but not as nice as if you were going to a wedding.

maybe a really great black suit (fitted blazer with wide leg pants) under it you can wear a cool trendy dress shirt, unbutton the top buttons and wear a string of pearls (long strands so you can wrap them around 2 or 3 times), and nice high, pointed toe pumps!... you can't go wrong with this and you'll look like a million bucks!

Wear the same thing you would wear to a daytime wedding.
A nice dress, and heels. Something in a pretty, rich fall color would be fine.

I'd go smart casual. No jeans, but perhaps a pair of linen trousers or a skirt with a nice blouse.

a nice suit or dress, then when you see the pics you will be glad, if the africans wear their own gear that is fine, just adds a bit of colour i guess !

Only wear white if you're the one being Christened. Just wear something you'd normally wear to church.
