Hello Soggy,
Yes i hate the thought that other people can hear you wee when your in the loo. I used to try and keep it really quiet. But i have rebelled and now i wee really loudly, even though secretly I'm embarrassed.

With the fattening of the world's population, they will have to make toilet stalls wider, toilets sturdier too. They are already making airplane seats wider and have changed the sizing on women's clothing so they will think that the size 14 they are buying is a 10. You could always become an executive and get a private WC. Try going to the Middle East, where not only are they communal, but without stalls and co-ed. You would really be bound up then.

Small toilet stalls are a pet peeve of mine. Actually, it's not so much the size as the fact that the doors open inwards, and the toilet dispenser is always on the right, which forces you to suck up against the wall to exit. Ewww! If they'd at least move the tp holder to the left side, you'd have a little more room to manuever getting out. Or change the hinges.

It has nothing to do with your question, but I was in France recently playing golf. At one clubhouse I went to the toilet and when I came out of the cubicle there was a woman washing her hands. I was embarrassed because I had gone into the wrong toilets. The lady in question was ok but I didn"t half get some rigging from the rest of the guys on the trip.

In women's toilets the extra space is needed for queueing. Imagine a line of women positioned so as not to be knocked over by people emerging from cubicles. Then imagine the people who have just emerged having to move round the people in the queue to get to the washbasins in order to perform their ablutions before making their way round other people washing their hands (again carefully avoiding the women in the queue) to get to the door (which must also have some protective space around it to avoid people coming in from hitting the people in the queue on the head. That's why so much space is needed. With so much to worry about, the intimate noises made by other toilet users can be cheerfully ignored.

Good for you. I've been lucky the public bathrooms I've been in were tidy except when I had to use the bathroom at the old middle school(this was before hte new one was built) I had to hold the handle open on the sink just so I could wash one hand at a time. Anyway that's my experence. Good luck.

I agree with you completely. I sometimes find it so hard to even get into the cubicle and actually manage to shut the door without climbing over the toilet bowl first because the cubicle is too small. Time to take matters into our own hands and lobby parliament for larger cubicles for women.

And how come most of them don't have hooks to hang your purse on anymore? Not that you should in case the freakin lock is broken, which it is 85% of the time, but where else are you supposed to put your purse? On the floor in that puddle of water with a wet wad of toilet paper in it?

Yea, it,s a bummer, but you could try flushing the loo while your on it, helps cover the sound effects a bit better.

I never thought of it before , but your are right. You can't close the stall door without hitting the toilet with your leg.
