I've seen numerious clips of news reports, and FDNY radio recordings from that morning - lots of (credible) people reported "secondary explosions.

Was an explanation ever given?

The "secondary explosions" were, of course, the explosives planted throughout the towers in order to ensure their collapse. Numerous employees at the World Trade Center have stated that in the weeks before the attacks, there were several "power downs", evacuation drills and removal of bomb sniffing dogs...any of which suggest that explosives (most probably thermite based) were put in place at these times.

Of course, you never heard about any of that on CNN, just like the recordings of FDNY on the 78th floor of WTC2 saying they could "knock down the fires with two lines"...not exactly the raging inferno that would cause the building to collapse, is it?

Hats off to people who are asking questions like this one; I salute you for waking up to the reality of the situation. And to all you naysayers who, five years on, are STILL in denial about what REALLY happened on 9/11 who wish to knock my answer and lob tons of insults, etc... folks, I've heard 'em all before (and I could really care less); I've been researching 9/11 ever since it happened, and lemme tell ya: it's not my problem if you're still so close minded and gullible that you refuse to face up to the truth. Face up to your fears and find out for yourselves.

The "official" explination is that its just the building collapsing and thats the sound it made. I am a bit more skeptical though...
