a stuck valve is what it sounds like. and is most likely the case. rarely do the piston rings fail so badly that you get no compression, but in the slightest chance that its not the valve, check that too.. or it could just be that the spark plug or compression gauge wasn't installed correctly. but i'm sure that they where

A compression test is where you are measuring the compression in a cylinder. Essentially, the build up of atmospheric pressure. Really, it won't matter (or shouldn't) how many plugs you remove. Forget the distributor wire. The test doesn't concern any electrical stuff. You will install the meter into the plug port and turn the engine over to test the compression. If you are not in the tolerance specified you have problems such as rings. Anyway, the engine should not be running during the test.

Burned or bent Valve would cause this. a hole in the position would cause this. a flat lobe on the cam would cause this. Broken Vavle retainer. If there is nothing going in then it would have nothing to compress. Does it pop out of the intake when it runs? If it does the then vavle is not closing. You need to pull the head and take a look. Unless you have a probe that you can look in to the chamber with. Not matter what your looking at rebuilding something rather it is the head or the block.

Check the valves. It could be that at some point something must have happened, and the valve got damaged, or it's just out of place. This happens when for example, your car doesn't start and you insist on turning the key. Plus, you need to make sure that the motor oil you are using is the proper calibre. The problem is that in order for you to verify what's actually going on, the mechanic will have to take the whole engine apart.

Another thing to checl before you take the damn thing apart is your timing belt. Also, make sure that you are not experiencing any fuel injection problems too.

try taking off the valve cover off and running the engine and see if your valves are all working. that way you can see if you need to work on the head and if you have a stuck valve. also redo the compression test and or if you can fill cylinder with air and listen for air escaping
