well, there was a guy named lamarck who thought that giraffes had long necks because they had to stretch their necks to reach tall leaves...so then each giraffe that stretched its neck got a long neck. but this theory was proven wrong (after all, humans don't grow taller by stretching their legs!). the true result of giraffes' long necks comes from darwin's theory of natural selection. this basically means that giraffes that happened to have a little bit longer necks than everyone else kept breeding with each other (because the trees were getting taller, so giraffes had to be tall enough to reach the leaves, and those that weren't tall enough at the time died b/c they couldn't get the food), so that after each generation the giraffes' necks got longer and longer.

Well i think giraffe's have long necks because were made weaker than other animals and is unable to compete with the other animals for food. So,it looks for food at the trees and as time goes, the giraffes evolve to enable it to obtain food easily by having long necks.

In the safari, most of the trees are high, thus the leaves are up high too, basically meaning that their necks have to be long to reach the leaves

its said that during ancient times, giraffes were like deers with short necks and all, but due to the scarcity of food, over the years, they had to stretch higher up for food, and due to evolution, they eventually developed long necks.
