I think you are talking about the Tool Bars which are shown at the top of your Browser's Window.
Well, you can Hide them Temporarily by Selecting VIEW from the Menu Bar (in Internet Explorer) and then Unchekc the Tool Bar you don't want to see. Select Toolbars in the VIEW Menu if you may find the bars there.
Now another good method is to remove the tool bars from your computer!
I love to do it! I don't like any tool bars because they slow down the speed when I launch the Internet Explorer!
Well, Select:
Start - > Settings - > Control Panel - > Add/Remove Programs
Now Remove/Delete the tool bar(s) you don't want to view.
That's the best way!

Some may be easy: Right click on a blank area of the toolbar and de-check ones that you do not want. This does not get rid of, just does not display. You can always turn back on it you want.
Some may be more difficult: You may need to go to Add or Remove programs in your control panel. Find the toolbar program in question and select change/remove.
Some harder: If you are IE, select tools > options > programs > manage add-ons. Disable anything that might be there as a toolbar. You can't delete them here, just disable. See below how to delete.
The most difficult: are those related to malware. Get yourself a good antivirus and antispy and run them both in safe mode (restart > tap F8 key before windows starts > select "safe mode").
Once you go through all that, install winpatrol (link below) and make sure that nothing is set to autostart that you dont want. Here you can also delete the "IE helpers" that attach themselves to IE.
