it was supposed to be delivered today, i took the day off work to wait for it - 4pm and it hasnt shown up!!

There were flashing lights outside my window at 4am this morning, and whirring noise...it felt like I was floating, there was beautiful music...could this all be connected?

You should be aware by now that they never deliver it on the day they say they will. Shortly you'll have to phone them up - obviously they'll say they don't have your order and know nothing about you. But when you start getting irritated they'll say, "Oh yes, Mr Xxxxxxx, sorry about that we had you down as Mr Yxxxxxxx. Hasn't it a rrived yet?" When you tell them it hasn't they'll ask for your number and say they'll phone you back. They will then phone you -if you're lucky - at a time when nobody could amke a delivery to say that there was a bit of a mix-up and they'll have to re-arrange delivery for another date. Usually you'll get the goods on this second date - they'll get to you 2 hours later than the latest time they told you - or the same thing that happened on the first delivery will happen again on the second and you'll get the goods on the 3rd date.
