No and not because there's anything wrong with the team. Bettman doesn't need to promote the sport in NY. It'll be another lame Southern US team. Look for it to be Atlanta or Nashville. Bettman and the NHL are really trying to promote the game in these cities.
By the way, all you "Hurricane's will repeat" people out there, they've had their moment and now Karmanos will have to promote the team on his own without the NHL's "fixed Stanley Cup intervention."
This is how the new NHL works. Don't believe me? Watch and see.

No, I can name 7 teams to look out for right now, and none include the Rangers. The Sabres are for real, as they have shown by winning 8 straight games against playoff teams to start this season, as well as 9 in a row overall. The Ducks (6-0-2) improved their defense with Pronger in the off-season, and Gigure's stats are amazing. Dallas is looking scary this season, and Turco is playing well, making them more formidable. San Jose has a load of talent, especially Thornton, Marleau, and Cheechoo, a good team leader in Grier, and a goalie who is capable of changing the face of a game in Nabakov. Atlanta looks solid this year, but the test for them will be to see if hey can continue to win if Hossa slows down at any point. Also, Atlanta's lack of a top-flight goalie may hurt them, but if their offense stays on course, it'll work out ok. And we can't forget Edmonton, the only 8-seed to make the Stanley Cup Finals, and they almost won it. They lost Pronger, but they got a couple good forwards from Anaheim, and I think they will build off of last year's success, though 5 of their 6 wins so far have come at home, so road games may be an issue for them.

just wait till the playoffs then you can ask that question.
Rob B>>>> you do know Glen Sather right, well he is a very smart man he will get the job done his work that he has done with the Rangers are starting to show. in the past the Rangers had all the money but just kept bringing in the has beans and it didn't work out but he is building a team. The Rangers were not a team that built around draft picks is was all about free agency and trade deadlines. so Sather and the Rangers are starting to put hockey back in NY. and this is from a guy that hates the Rangers.

They will finish third in the Atlantic to the Devils and Penguins.
They will make the playoffs but lose in the first round.
I would love the Devils to win the cup but I think it will be the Flames and Sabres

Only if they're giving them away in boxes of Rice Krispies. Winner comes out of the West again - who can stop them?

No. they have talent but its all old guys. if they get injured you have no one to lead the team. I would also like to add that the Canadiens and Hurricanes have no chance this year sorry.
GO SABRES
