I came back thru Heathrow beginning of this month. Went there 3hours before hand as there was a long queue at the departure counters, i was going back to asia. Could only bring one piece of hand luggage along. During sercuity checks, dont bring any creams, gels or foodstuff and no water bottles as well. Try to go there earlier just in case. look on their baa website for more details or changes.

You can now carry on ONE item of hand luggage, not exceeding 56 x 45 x 25 cm, plus anything you buy after Security.
Liquid cosmetics, Liquids, Sharp items, Gels and pastes and Lighters are NOT allowed through Security.
Recommended check-in times are 3 hours before departure for long haul (3.5 hours for passengers travelling on El Al), 2 hours for European flights, 1 hour for UK & Ireland.

I just traveled from Heathrow last weekend. Don't take any liquids, gels, creams, anything like that no matter what it is through security. You can buy it after you pass security and take it on the plane that way.
There is a Boots pharmacy if you need to buy toothpaste or anything like that.
Thank God I have a Prada wallet!
