I have come to terms with the group effort, since it' a big part of higher education and work experience. How I learned to adjust, is having some fun with it. If we are going to be forced upon each other, get to know them, see what makes them tick. I guess it becomes a game in itself. A little mind control will work in your favor. Take charge when you think you can do better, because people do look for a leader. Also admit when you don't know something, as they say two heads are better then one. And we can all learn from each other. Another big plus, exchange work . If grammar ain't your thing(like me) have someone write the paper and proofread, while you do a science lab or something. This can definitely work in your favor.

Ah well i prefer working in groups so you can bounce ideas around and generally if you get on well with the people, then you should have no problem. As for a lesser work load you shouldn't think of it like that if you now put as much effort as you would for yourself into the group you'll be the best group for sure.

I dont mind either, working alone is great when I want stuff done in a hurry becuase i have no distractions. But a group environment opens you up to different ideas and concepts that you alone may not have happened to discover. And hell, you may learn something from the people you are around.

Hi dude,
Just work dose not mean to do it. Even your friends who know your level best can be with you for a long time. So other tasks such as your projects etc. will do normal . But if you want to get best out of it Try To understand the persons level i.e. Mentally, emotionally. I am sure it will definitely work it for you.

it depends on the people i am with. i had a terrible experience last year when we had to go and record a few interviews on audio tape. it was for journalism, by the way. we even arranged to meet up at certain times and swapped phone numbers, so we can keep in contact just in case anything happens but she still didn't turn up when we expected her to do so. that was frustrating, although we still went ahead with the project, anyway. thankfully, me and my group member got the marks, whilst she didn't get graded for the assignment.
personally, i like working on my own. when i am given a task to do, i just go ahead and do it without fuss and if and when i have problems i always consult my lecturer for advice. besides, the good thing for me, is that i don't have to wait for the other person/s to turn up. yes there are advantages to group work but there are also disadvantages to it as well. though the same goes for working on my own. i suppose its all down to who you can rely and depend upon to deliver the goods, as well as who you are able to get along with. if you get on really well with a group of people and you can be assured that they will not let you down, then that's great. but the important thing about working in a group is trust. everyone must trust one another and that each person must not let the others down. in addition, everyone is allocated a task to undertake and that he/she takes responsibility for it and does it.

You sound just like me. I don't like working in groups because I don't get nearly as much done as when I'm on my own. I concentrate a lot better on my own and it helps especially if others are not on the same wave length. They could slow you down.
