Ok. This is going to sound crazy but I have some closed friends in a almost virgin part of Mexico with huge forest and immense Mountains, they went hunting several days ago and they heard something like a baby crying deep in the woods, they found a really short old man somehow trapped in a cave, he was too small and old… he asked them to set him free and he offered gold for such favor…..???????????? And I know this is not a joke and my friends never play like that. I know the kind of answers am going to get with this question… but if I am asking this is because this is not the first time I hear something like that.

When I was little my grandfather told me a similar story about a gnome. He said when he was a boy living in Italy he and his friends saw a gnome crawling out of a hollow log in the woods. This gnome looked like a very small, very old man but spry and quick. My grandfather said the gnome was startled when he saw the boys and ran off like lightening. My grandfather and his friends spent most of the day after that trying to find the gnome. They never did nor did they ever see him again.

did your friends set the old man free? Have they verified that the gold id real if they did set him free

What about the location did they find out if there is more gold and more little people that need to be freed?

The story only sounds crazy if you can not answer the additional question you raise about setting the man free and the possibility that there are more little people that may be trapped or have gold

Well, they do exist. Every time I go into the woods, I make sure to carry three 6 sided dice with me. That way, if a gnome crosses my path, I have a good chance of taking off all of his hit points. I suggest your friends do the same.

Errr...yeah. Your friends are either insane or liars or they're having a joke on you no matter what you say. Did they show you the gold? It's very difficult for me to believe that there are people as gullible as you out there.
