How can I prevent this?

First make a backup of your registry.
Click on start > run . Type regedit. press OK.
the registry editor window opens.click on File > Export.
Save the file by giving it a name.It will create a registration entries file in my documents folder.
Then click on Edit > Find. Type bell south click on Find Next. The search will stop at the entry containing bell south , read it once to make sure it is bell south. Then click on the entry in the right panel and press delete key or right click and select delete. Press Ok to confirm deletion. Now press F3 to search again. Delete the entry if found. Continue till you finish searching through registry.

Sounds like adware. Got to the control panel and uninstall this program via add/remove programs. If you can't the only way may be to reinstall windows. Good luck.

Get a pop up blocker, and/or firewall.. usually your anti-virus has this..
