We recently moved to a house with well water. Its a night mare. The toilets are orange, the tubs, washer, etc etc. WE bought a filter to put on main water line, and I have a filter on my shower head. My blonde hair is turing orange and looks so awful. The buildup in my hair is crazy. Anyone deal with this or know what to do>?

You need an iron filter, a good iron filter. Go to a local water treatment company like Kinetico or Culligan and take a sample of your water and have them test it. I pretty much guarantee it's iron in your water although bacteria can help cause the browness in your shower. By testing the water, they can tell you how good of an iron filter you will need. If you go with the small iron filters you'll have to change them pretty regularly. They normally sell those at Walmart and most department stores.

A reverse osmosis system probably would help, but those systems do tend to waste a lot of water and they tend to cost a descent bit.

I have to agree with most of the other people. It is a problem with the iron in your water. If it is that bad I'd imagine there is some sort of water softener hooked up. If not that is the first step. Then, if you want really good water you'll need a reverse osmosis (or RO) system.

When I moved into my place the water was pretty hard. I bought a Rainsoft unit that has worked flawlessly for 8 years now. Even with a filter the rust colored water still is apparent. The company said the only way to remedy is RO. Expensive, but it works.

What the other poster said, in addition, you may want to pony up for a professional water filtration system IE call the Culligan man. They will hook up a tank to filter the water through, that will make it softer and remove some rust. That will get a lot more of the rust out, although it probably still won't get all of it.

First test your water.
There could be several problems with the water itself.
well are usually cleared once a while, if they werent cleared for a long long time.. it could give you some problem.

How is the water drawn from the well. is it from the top or from the bottom.. ?? that makes a big difference

is there a tree near the well.. if so.. its leaves or flower could contribute to the problem.

so.. watch for the source of the problem.. above all if you are not satisifed.. vacate this house..

Go to Sally Beauty Supply and get Malibu. It strips the iron/rust out of your hair. Be sure to moisturize afterwards. Check out a reverse osmosis system for your water softener. That will help.

Getting gray hairs is a typical area of life... yet you're no longer meant to get them at this early of an age. gray hairs are brought about via rigidity on your life. attempt to take a seat back somewhat and in keeping with possibility take a bubble tub it extremely is going to avert you from getting gray hairs despite the fact that it wont lead them to flow away. As for human beings which you have already got.. attempt colouring them at a close-by hairdresser.

You will have to get the very good filter system for your home or do as I did and go to a salon twice a week or as needed and get just a shampoo, then go home and style it myself. I feel your pain!
