1) Lamp is like those pretendending people who do not see their own shortcomings
2) Lamp is like those benovelent people who spend their entire lives for the welfare of others
Any ways, if your concern is to dispel that darkness from under the lamp, then TRY THIS:- Put another lamp near it (of Course i meant a lighted lamp)

what u have asked is according to a hindi saying, 'chirag tale andhera'. the reason for this is different for different people.positive thinkers think that a lamp gives light to the world. it does think of itself. so it inspires people to be like a lamp .
negetive thinkers tell that though a lamp gives light to everyone but it has some fault in itself.
if u r asking a scientific reason then its simple. a lamp is always lit on a base. we know that light cannot pass through opaque object and hence a shadow is formed .its base is opaque. so the darkness below the lamp is the shadow of its base.

A lamp which is showing light unto itself won't be able to spread light around it.
Children of darkness do take shelter under the shining lamp for their motives, but the light isn't to blame for it.

bcoz of the frame of the lamp,,, the light from the lamp reflects from the frame,, and in result we see darkness and that darkness is actually the shadow...
