a lot of employers look for initiative in people

Because you are the possible employee while they are the actual employer.
If you want a job, you have to be responsible and call them when they request that you do so.
They company has no responsibility towards you unless you are their employee. If every hiring company had to call everyone who applied even if they weren't going to hire them, no one would get hired, and the man hours would increase three fold.

Employers are looking for people with drive! If you can't show enough ambition to pick up the phone and check on a job-who wants ya'.

Because if you don't call them, it shows you aren't really that interested in the job. You are the one who is trying to get hired so you have to make the effort. They don't have to.

'cause that's the way it is. they have a job and you need one. It's a superiority complex. kinda like a royalty, na, na, na,na,na thing.....lol
personally I think these people have mental problems for their way of thinking.
