Does the Linksys wireless router WRT54GS (speedbooster) offer any substantial difference in browsing speed over WRT54G ? I read the following review on amazon, is it correct : "The only difference between the WRT54G and the WRT54GS is the flash and Ram memory. It is an upgrade from 4mb to 8mb for the flash, and 16mb to 32mb for the Ram. Basically you wont surf the internet any faster (with speedbooster). The benefits of this is just transferring files from one computer to another will increase. For those who just want to share an internet connection, stick with the WRT54G"

Thanks all for the answers.
If I share my router with a desktop and a laptop, my question is, would browsing speed on the laptop be any different if I use the WRT54GS as against a simple WRT54G ?

absolutely true buddy to be precise it does'nt increse the speed ( bandwidth of your internet connection ) but it increses the speed of your intranet connection ( local Wi-fi network ) I have seen it makes more difference when you are sharing a DSL or cable connection & specially for online gaming.

I am answering this question using the Linksys wrt46g. And let me tell you I am happy that I did not spend the extra money on the ladder. I still download "depending on where I get my files from" at about 100 to 300k. That is a big variance but it depends on how fast the other server can upload and give it to you. Limewire I've gotten up to 300k/sec. And I have cable Internet. If your not running multiple computers " over 4 " I have three. Don't waste your money,
Unless your rich, and get the cheaper one.. trust me... I am happy with mine and so will you..

Pretty much.

Remember that you can have a blazing fast wireless router but your internet company who is telling you that you have 3MB per sec/ download is still only giving you maybe 256k. So a basic 54MB router is still overkill for most internet connections. The review is correct it is POSSIBLE under the best conditions that your computer to comptier transfers would benifit.
