I have noticed that my shirts have what look like wet spots on them that do not go away. They remind me of grease stains but I know for sure that they are not. Please help.

Call a repairman NOW! We had that problem. It is oil coming from inside the washingmachine. You might also get some small brown spots which is rust. It means the round thing is probably wobbly (soon to be broken).
We had to replace it. It comes from the "kogellagers" (sorry, I only know the word in dutch..)
Hope your washingmachine gets well soon.

There may be something inside your machine that you can't see that is leaving the spots. Try running your machine through a cycle without clothes in it. Use hot water, soap and bleach. It's good to do this once in a while.

I had the same problem! I figured out that it was my liquid fabric softener. I also had the same problem with dryer sheets when my clothes came out of the dryer. The loads I used liquid softener on i just rewashed and all was fine but the loads where I used the dryer sheets were ruined I couldn't get the spots out.

It maybe your machine is leaking oil. which could be caused by a bad seal around the the agitator. which causes water to leave the tub and go down into the transmission of the machine which causes the oil of the transmission to float into the tub.
