To get back to the original Christmas date--that we lost when calender was updated....
diff countries had diff methods of dating.. romans put most of those countries into using one calender.
those days were dropped to all on same date...
other words those 12 days were just wiped out...
so many add 12 days to 25 dec to get 6 jan.. their old Christmas date.

The 12 days originated from the song "The twelve days of Christmas". It's actually a way of evangelizing when the early christians were persecuted. Each day means something different, like 1 mean God the Father, 3 signifies the Holy Trinity - God the Father, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
But actually, there're only 8 days. The octave of christmas.

What i can tell you my friend is to ask your self if you know where Christmas came from first of all, if you dont know because you have to be honest with yourself, visit this web site and it will tell you why crhistmas have 12 days and more.
If you want to do your own homework go to your favorit interner broser such as Yahoo search, google seach or Ask.com and tipe some questions like thes:
Where did christmas came from?
Where did hallween came from?
where did (tipe some selebration that you want to know about) came from? etc.

Thirteen would be unlucky. :-) It actually has to do with the days between Christmas and the Epiphany.

Because it would be overwhelming to get all that stuff in one day!
Actually, I don't think that song has anything to do with the Christian side of Christmas.
