Something simple that really tunes to his likes or needs. Don't do it like, well he needs a new toothbrush. If he's into tools get a tool that he normally wouldn't buy for himself cause it isn't practical. Tune into something he wants, something he could buy, but never does. My husband is military and collects military coins, he is very proud of them and displayed them flat on a shelf. So for our 5th anniversary a few months ago, I got him a display rack for his coins. A little off the beaten path, it wasn't something he needed to survive, but it makes something he cherishes look a little nicer. Good Luck

The traditional gift for 4th year anniversaries is fruit / flowers.
If you don't want to give him flowers, maybe you could have a couple of fruit trees planted in the yard? They're really nice looking, especially in the spring when they flower.

A gift certificate to your favorite restaurant, (notice I said "your"), a snowblower so he can do the walks quicker so you dont get your feet snowy...something practical for YOUR benefit. That's how it works!
