It is ok to not be comfortable with a commitment yet. When you find the "right one" for you, you will feel different about things. Tell your partners you aren't looking to get married, just someone to hang out with alot. If they don't understand, keep telling them, if they push the issue, threaten a breakup.

It depends on a lot of things. I used to be in love with the idea of commitment until I got married and saw that it did not mean half of what I thought it would. Even during my marriage I already started not wearing my wedding ring nor my husband's surname, as I would see how similar it was to be single, in the sense I still had to do all things I had to do before and have some more few responsabilities.
Now I am just like you, the idea of commitment does not attract me the least, and I have a guy who I have date and he wants to push it into 'next levels' and I feel just not interested, so right now I am sitting here too, thinking if I should do something about him, give it a try or just call it a day.
Some people will think we are cold, but I guess there is a time in life for everything. Just like guys dont like to feel under pressure, women do have this same right of enjoying freedom.

While it may be more common for men to have this particular issue, of course it can also be found in women.

I am hesitant, like you, to make a commitment. This may very well have to do with 2 divorces, the last being 18 years ago. Divorce HURTS, and I have remained absolutely committed to being very careful about IF or WHEN I make another marital commitment.

Is this a problem? No, not really, I have learned to enjoy living by myself, despite a society that encourages people to be partnered. Would I like to find a partner that I could share the happiness, pain, joy and sorrow of life with? Sure! But I'm not willing to settle, I absolutely insist upon enjoying life and a bad partner choice greatly threatens ones happiness.

Good luck.

Peace.

Any guy that wants a committment too soon probably doesn't have a back bone. If you have your crap together you could play some head games with them.

You are probably fun loving and a free spirit which makes a lot of guys attracted to you and they want that type of girl all to themself. So when they find a girl that wants a commitment is scares them too and they pull back......so....turn into the girl that wants a commitment....don't really change, but make him think you are looking for a serious relationship. It will scare him and push him away a bit, which would be perfect because you don't really want a relationship.

Think you can handle that?

How old are you? Might have something to do with your age or you haven't met the right person yet who you would naturally feel you'd want to commit to. It also depends how long you've been with them. If youve been with them for 5 years and you don't feel like you could commit to them, then they are not the one for you.
When you say commitment, is this marriage proposals or moving in together or kids?
