I have had those my entire life. When I was a kid I'd get four and five at a time. They hurt so badly. I have tried every trick in the book. The only one that really works in warm saltwater. Make a little bit of saltwater, heavy on the salt. Put the water in your mouth and just hold it against your ulcer. It WILL burn. Hold it as long as you can. Then spit the water out. This will speed up the healing process. It really does work....good luck...

Ask your dentist about a medication called Magic Mouthwash. It really is magic! I used to get ulcers monthly and sometimes I would have as many as 8 at a time, until I came across it about 2 years ago and it has made my life much better. When you feel the beginning of an ulcer, gargle with the wash 3-4 times a day. It not only numbs the ulcer temporarily, but it heals it. It will be gone in 2 days and not turn into a fully blown ulcer. You can read about it at the website below. Good luck.

Right, maybe leaving it be would be the best option, but I know from experience that this isnt always very easy!

Bonjela provides really great relief for a couple of hours, but stings like hell for a couple of mins when applied!

Gargling and swallowing soluble paracetamol relieves the pain and rinsing the mouth with iced water before a meal makes eating possible.

There's this stuff called ADCORTYL - which when applied doesnt hurt a bit, and although it doesnt feel like anything's happening at first, you should notice a real improvement quite soon. This is the stuff I use.

Heres a great website for more help - http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/mouthulcers.html

Good luck!

It's been a long time since I had one, and once upon a time there was practically nothing you could do except let it run its course. But now they have medications for cold sores that you can buy without a prescription at your local drug store. They should be worth a try. I personally don't have any experience with them because I've never had a cold sore since those medicines came on the market. Knowing how annoying they are, I wish you a speedy recovery.

Hi, I have used a product called "Herbal Aloe Drink" from Herbalife, sort of like month wash, a couple of times per day. Within 2 days (I also learned from other users). It was fine. This product if you drink regularly, can clean your digestive system for you, so maybe you won't have this type problem in the future. You can check website: www.herbalife.com

Adcortyl in orabase, other treatments like bonjela just slide off, this stuff sticks and has a very mild steroid to reduce inflammation and speed healing.
Over the counter at most chemists.

If you're in the UK, ask your pharmacist for Adcortyl in Orabase.

It will give your ulcer a protective coating; used overnight it's magic (though expensive for a tiny tube!).

I would use either Bonjela or Anbesol (this is the most amazing creation for sore teeth, gums etc I have ever found)

Try rincing your mouth with TCP. Also get some Bonjela which is also very good.
