Just like when giving birth, a squating position helps movement. However, I do not suggest you squat. What you can do is sit on the toilet and put some books under your feet to raise your knees until it simulates a squating position.

This will help your bowels move more naturally, without pushing too hard.

If you get bored, take a book or something in to read. It will take your mind off waiting and you are allowed, since it's just a one off. Don't be ashamed to take something in with you if it helps.

Syrup of figs, licorise followed by a hot mug of tea! Maybe take a some music to the bathroom with you to stop you getting bored and give you some inspiration LOL... hope you recover well.

I often find that coffee and a completely unhealthy cigarette, makes me want to go so much that I just dont have much in the way of choice.
I had to do a similarsort of thing last year. Just dont force yourself or you will hemerage!
Try a laxative to start the bowel movement

If your still in hospital ask the doctor for a dose of laxative, if not get some over the counter at your local pharmacy, that should make things nice and soft so you don't strain, let nature take its course

You might try just a glycerin suppository. This usually helps. If this doesn't you might try just a Fleet enema. It is only a small amount of fluid. Follow the directions on the packages. This is what your gyn doc would tell you to try.

Your going to have a stomach ache and a butt ache if you don't just let it go. Don't strain, just let it happen, I think you should take a little extra time on the loo, colon cancer is on the rampage.

My sister-in-law recommends KitKat. She says that about an hour after eating one she just has to go.

It doesn't work for me ... but there is no harm at all in trying to see if it works for you ... one of the more enjoyable ways to try & go.

Good luck & I hope that you feel better soon.

You have to eat fiber, like raw foods, drink lots of water, and be active, like in exercise. If you're living on processed foods, you'll always have troubles that way.

Colace is a good bowel emptier, it also reduces the pain, making your stools softer. you can buy it any drugstore. you also can take it on a daily basis without your body becoming addicted to it.
