Every once in a while I think it is necessary to escape from all the surrounding elements and stresses of your life and concentrate on just yourself. You are not being selfish, it is just a fact of human nature that we all need some alone time.

Right now I am at work, dreading going into the office full of people. I'm sitting alone in our library...pretty much in solitude except for my on-line friends. I'm finding a lot of comfort in this type of solitude. Before I came here, I was eating my breakfast alone reading my bible and I was enjoying that solitude quite a bit. There is a lot of solitude that I enjoy. I imagine though after a couple hours I will overcome my grouchiness and be OK with having to share my office space with half the world. I find periods of solitude through-out my day where I zone in my work. I find a lot of comfort in solitude, but I learn to live with the ripples in the water. I guess the question for me is, can I find comfort in not having the solitude?

I find great comfort in Solitude, for that is when I meditate and meditation eases the mind and soothes the soul.
In the words of some fine writers....
"Only in calm waters can you see your reflection, not in running waters,Only in tranquillity can you find that resting place which stillness seeks."-Lao-Tse
"For solitude sometimes is the best society, And short retirement urges sweet return."-Milton
"I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude"-H.D.Thoreau
"Here will we sit and let the sounds of music creep in our ears: soft stillness and the night become the touches of sweet harmony."-Shakespeare, The merchant of Venice
