They should cover it IF not I would go to Planned parenthood and have it inserted I have heard wonder with Mirena and endometriosis. The previous poster said that it has prolonged periods and cramps which is correct for the Paraguard but I know that the one prescribed to you was Mirena

I recommend one to try this web site where you can get quotes from different companies: http://insurecheap.us/index.html?src=2YApyoda7V8p
RE :Is an IUD covered by health insurance?
My doctor recommended me getting an IUD implanted to reduce my endometriosis pain. Will health insurance cover it if it is not primarily for birth control?
Update: By the way I am from NJ

Each case is specific to the company a person's with. YOU need to contact YOUR company and ask them. My insurance pays for IUDs but not every case will be covered.
As an FYI, are you SURE you want to go that route? I would seriously consider getting a second opinion if I were you. From what I've heard and read and from personal experience, IUDs are miserable for a lot of people with extended periods, severe cramping and irregular cycles. If you have endometriosis, I don't think this is the route you would want to take!

I'm going to say the chance is fairly slim. I have never been able to get any help with my birth control pills from any insurance company even when I explain to them that I'm not sexually active and that they are for PCOS. The insurance community is very sexist, which is why they will cover viagra but nothing for women that even hints at birth control.

My IUD the Mirena was not covered under insurance but I use it for birth control. I love it! No more PMS, no cramps, and my period is very light.

I was just laid-off from an insurance company and IUD coverage is based upon what your employer wants in the policy so coverage for a IUD is policy dependent.

Iam not sure about the States, but in Canada if a doctor has perscribed it, it would be covered. But only for health reasons, they will not cover it for birth control. These are considered optional
